Three Pillars, One Goal
BAHP works across three interconnected pillars — Health Services, gender-responsive migrant care, and digital health records — to close the health access gap for border and migrant populations in Lao PDR.
Output 1: Health services in selected border areas strengthened ($19.48M)
Detailed engineering design, construction of 5 hospitals, and deployment of modern medical equipment across Champasak, Phongsali, and Savannakhet, meeting national standards and environmental safeguards.
Output 2: Gender-Responsive Migrant Care ($2.84M)
Targeted health and SRH services for female migrants in Special Economic Zones, GBV clinical care desks, cross-border health insurance, and community programs for upland ethnic groups.
Output 3: Digital EMR Integration ($2.63M)
Rollout of Electronic Medical Records and Unique Health Identifiers across 8 district hospitals and 3 provincial hospitals (11 hospitals total) to ensure continuity of care across provincial lines.
Closing the Gap for Border and Migrant Communities
Border populations and migrants face disproportionately poor health outcomes due to fragmented services. High cross-border and internal migration — particularly affecting female workers in Special Economic Zones — combines with outdated facilities and limited digital tracking to leave continuity of care behind. BAHP directly addresses these gaps through targeted investment and gender-responsive programming.
